The ACCESS, Inc. Housing Department is dedicated to the creation of affordable housing as well as programs and services that offer low to moderate income people the opportunity to live in decent, safe, housing.

Rental Assistance

ACCESS administers several programs designed to help low-income families maintain or transition into permanent housing. Eligible families receive help with rent, security deposits, move-in costs and other expenses.

  • Homeless and eviction prevention assistance – for individuals and families either currently homeless or facing immediate eviction, ACCESS may help with rent payments and other expenses. Assistance depends on funding availability.
  • Deposit assistance – for those who need help making payments for refundable deposits and first month’s rent in order to obtain affordable housing.

Homeownership & Related Services

ACCESS is a certified HUD Housing Counseling Agency (since 1991) and offers counseling, guidance and assistance to people who need help with their housing situation.

Programs include:

  • Individual Development Accounts are matched savings accounts to help eligible consumers build financial resources. Funds can be used for higher education, small business start-up or expansion, or purchasing a home.

  • Pre-purchase education  (ABC's)provides information on the process of buying a home and becoming “mortgage ready."

  • Buyers assistance programs help first-time buyers with counseling, down payment programs and special mortgage products as available.

  • Other counseling services include pre/post purchase information, foreclosure intervention, loss mitigation and reverse mortgage counseling for seniors who are considering using the established equity in their home to supplement their personal income or pay off debt.

Affordable Housing

For over 15 years, ACCESS has been dedicated to providing Jackson County residents with safe, decent, affordable places to live.

  • As a Community Development Corporation (CDC), ACCESS has been designing, funding and managing affordable housing since 1992. In addition to creating agency-owned housing, we have partnered with other non-profits and for-profits in the creation of affordable housing for families, seniors and people with disabilities.

  • Over the years we have successfully developed more than 200 units of affordable housing and are currently managing many of these units. Each complex is unique unto itself, but all are aesthetically pleasing, environmentally friendly, durable, low maintenance, cost and energy efficient. Applications and photos are available on-line and available for review.
