Nutrition Programs
The Nutrition Department - Offers several nutrition programs that enable hungry people in Jackson County to obtain food supplies for themselves and their families. Each year, our nutrition programs provide food for agencies that prepare on-site meals and aid needy families with more than 37,000 emergency food boxes.
Food Share - Provides emergency food boxes to hungry families and individuals in Jackson County through a network of 20 food pantries, and food to 25-30 agency programs that serve low-income individuals. Two of the programs that help us to provide this food are:
Fresh Alliance – The collection of meat, milk, dairy, and other products from community groceries including Fred Meyer and Albertson’s.
Commodity Supplemental Food Program – a supplemental food program established by USDA. USDA has allotted 350 boxes for Jackson County. The boxes contain cereal, non-fat dry milk, evaporated milk, juice, rice, pasta, peanut butter, dry beans, canned meat, canned fruit, and vegetables.
